  Extra Information: Kyoka was born Sanada Fumiko. Her father, a local fish merchant, got involved with a local gang to protect his business. After years of raising protection taxes higher and higher, her father eventually lost the ability to pay. To settle his debt, he was ultimately forced to sell his only daughter Fumiko, 9-years-old at the time, as a slave, with the promise that he could buy her back if he made enough money. He never got the chance. A wealthy merchant, concerned with the gang's growing power and interference in his business, hired a clan of ninja to assassinate the gang's leader. When a kunoichi arrived to complete the mission, 10-year-old Fumiko was in the room as well, and she could not bring herself to kill the child. Fumiko was then adopted by the Kazeshini clan, a clan of shinobi known for their use of aromatic weapons - such as airborne poisons - rather than physical prowess. She spent the next ten years undergoing training in ninjutsu to learn to defend herself before changing her name and finally leaving the clan to make her own way. For the past 3 years, she has made a name for herself as an assassin and is a master in the use of various poisons and the use of concealed weapons. In return for a favor to Hoshi Ichirou's wife, she resides in the Edo Brothel and is allowed to continue her own "business" there under the guise of being a prostitute named Kikue.
