Last Words

[TSUKI RIINA]

Riina laid on the grass a few feet away from the small road. The sun was setting and just a few more miles she would be entering the next city, but she was growing tired from the miles she had already walked. She could have gotten a horse from her village when she had left, but she never really liked riding a horse it was just another thing that would attract thieves.

Slowly, she closed her eyes no longer wanting to gaze upon the mixed color horizon.

[TENSHI KURAI]

Kurai was traveling through these lands looking for information on so new power that seemed to be on the rise here. It was to be a simple get in look around and see what he could find out then leave. Sure he could have had someone else to this type of mission, but he much rather to it himself. It gave him both a chance to get out and see more of the world plus he didn't have to deal with all the old guys his advisers telling him what they thought was best for the land. He knew that he had come into power at a young age and that they were there to help him, but sometimes he wondered if they weren't just trying to help themselves. He shook his head of those thoughts and continued to ride his horse forward in hopes of reaching some place soon.

As he rode along the road he noticed someone laying in the grass not moving. He didn't know if maybe they had collapsed from their travels and needed help.He got off his horse and walked over toward the person saying " Hey are you ok? you need help?" As he got closer he noticed who it was laying there. He had met her a few times now her name was Riina. He walked up and stood next to her looking down at her and smiled. He said " So you alright Riina or did you pass out from all the walking?" He leaned down over her looking at5 her as he waited to see if she was awake at all.

The sounds of the horse's feet thumping against the road did not even make her budge from where she lay. Listening carefully she could tell there was only one and as the rider moved off of there horse and onto the ground talking as he approached it was also obvious it was a male and one that she knew.

" So you alright Riina or did you pass out from all the walking?"

Slowly, she opened her gold colored eyes to him still laying on the ground looking up to him. "Unlike you I did not have a horse." Riina said her eyes moving from his and back to the sky. "If you dont hurry you wont get to the next town before the sun sets." Her eyes closed again a soft sigh escaping her lips.

A smile slowly sled over Kurai's face as he listened to Riina's response. She was still the ice queen he had come to know. He smirked to himself as he thought well she is most of the time. He knew what got her to loosen up for lack of a better word. He listened as she talked about not having a horse like he did and about him making it to the next town before the sun went down. How sad she was trying to get right of him already and he had just got there. He made a sad face while looking at her then to the orange colored sky. He looked back to her and said " Hmm.. I guess you are right the sun is starting to set after all."

He turned and moved like he was walking toward his horse then sat and laid down right next to her. He smirked and looked up at the sky then turned his head to look at her his shoulder against hers. " So tell me what is it that so interesting out there that you would rather just lay out here then take my offer of help Riina."

As Kuria's foot step walked away she glanced back at him for only a second before looking away this time her eyes falling to the dark colored grass beside her. Before to long Kurai's body moved in her line of vision laying down next to her there shoulders touching and his eyes meeting with her's as Kurai spoke to her. Riina looked away staring down the road this time instead of the sky shrugging lightly.

"I am not in need of help." She began, "Nor did you ask if I needed it but just asked if I was alright." Riina looked back over to him as a warm feeling vibrated where there bodies where touching threw her clothes. She then looked away from Kurai somehow finding herself unable to look at him for to long.

Kurai couldn't help but smile at her comment it was just like her to find something to say. Though it was true he hadn't asked her if she needed help only because she didn't seem like the type of women to take it if he did offer it to her. She seemed like she would do what she had to to protect herself and she wasn't about to let anyone mess with her. He was staring at her before he even realized he was doing it his eyes looking over her face and down her body then back up. He was suddenly aware of the fact that they were really close and that they were touching and he had no desire to move or change that. She could see it in the way she acted her movements they way she only looked at him for a second before looking away. She was guarded and was protecting herself but it wasn't from an enemy it was something else and he wasn't sure what.

His hand was moving before he could stop it and he slide it through her hair. He took out a piece of grass out of her hair and let his fingers linger over her cheek. He just looked at her for a bit not saying anything just staring finding himself thinking she was beautiful even if she could be cold at times. Then without realizing that he was doing it he was speaking his thoughts as he said " Your beautiful....but you won't let me in...why won't you let me in." The words were out before he could stop them and part of him was glad. He wanted to know more about her but she had to give him a chance first.

His eyes never lift hers and the sun faded into the night sky. He sat up then and turned to her " It's dark and it will get cool...if were gonna be here awhile then we will need a fire." He moved a strand of hair from her face his eyes on her lips for just a second before looking away " I'll start it just don't disappear on me alright." Then me moved getting up to start the fire he had decided he would one way or another get her to open up to him or leave her alone.

Riina kept her body and eyes still as she felt his fingers run threw her hair. She wanted so much more from him then just a stroke of her hair or cheek. Each movement he made was light and careful making shivers go threw her entire body as her gold eyes stared down blades of grass unable to find the words to stop him.

" Your beautiful....but you won't let me in...why won't you let me in."

Riina's mouth almost dropped at his words unable to believe the words that poured from his lips. She found herself looking at him, just as he spoke again mentioning something about a fire, but she couldnt really listen to Kurai's word because as she was told this his hand had moved a piece of her hair as he stood up. Riina sat up not long after her head turning slightly watching him before grabbing her bag and putting it to her side. She sat that for only a second longer before getting up and pacing towards him and grabbing his wrist. "Do you really think im going to allow you to walk away after saying something like that to me?" Letting go of his wrist so looked up to him. "I dont like mind games."

His mind was racing with the many thoughts going on in his head at that moment. Part of him couldn't believe what he had said and another part of him wished he had said it sooner. But all of him wondered what was going on in her head right now. What was she thinking how would she react to what he had just told her. He knew she was cold and closed off but he just needed a chance if he could get that then maybe...he shook his head to try and clear it. He hadn't gotten that far when he felt a hand grab his wrist and stop him from continuing. He turned to find Riina holding him there saying something about leaving. He just stared at her for a moment not really putting things together at first til what she said finally clicked.

His eyes met hers as he said " I was going to come back, I wasn't just gonna just leave you here alone. I wasn't done anyway I still have to get an answer out of you. I need to know..."

He didn't care at that moment he just didn't want to leave here with any regrets so he put an arm around her waist and pulled her against him. Then his lips were on hers and he knew that she would probably hit him after this but at that moment he didn't really care. He just knew that she would either accept him here or he would have to forget her.

"Need you kno-" She was not able to finish her sentence as Kurai put a arm around her waist and pulled her against him. Riina felt completely defenseless as he did this to her unable to find the strength as he moved her like a rag doll. A faint blush crossed her cheeks as Kurai's lips drew closer to her own making her heart flutter inside of her like a surprised bird trapped in a cage. Then Kurai's lips were pressed against hers as Riina brought her hand up but it was only for a second as it dropped and moved back from the kiss. "Kuria....we need to get a fire started." Riina said softly trying to hide her flushed cheeks from him.

Kurai was surprised when he didn't feel her hand come up and slap him and even if she had he wasn't sure it would have been enough to get him to stop then. But she wasn't pushing him away she wasn't trying to stop and he kept kissing her he kept on until she finally stepped away from him that he was able to remember what he was suppose to be doing. He blinked a bit looking at her just staring at her as she then said something about making a fire. he let out a breath and spoke " Oh...yea right a fire I'll get right on that."

He turned from her then and went back to gathering things for the fire. His head was still thinking about her and what had happened the whole time. Before he had realized it he had gathered and started the fire and he was just standing there in front of it. He finally sat and said " Now we have a fire."

As Kuria left to get the metrials needed to set up the fire she folded her arms walking back to where her bag was standing over it. Her honey colored eyes grew a bit sad as her arms wrapped around her. Riina sat there quietly closing her eyes to the darkness that had taken over the sky. Her thoughts focused on Kurai and the way he made her feel. Everything Kurai did to her made her feel weak and forget everything else around her. Clenching her fist she opened her eyes gazing at the stars wishing that she would have kissed him back at that moment. Doubt. Thats what had to be going threw his mind.

Riina sighed just as he returned and set up the fire. She gazed into the flames before looking at him slowly walking beside him. "Kurai....." She said softly sitting in his lap blocking his view of the fire staring at him for a moment before kissing him.

[TENSHI KURAI]

Kurai was feeling torn and confused he didn't know what to think or how to take what had just happened. She hadn't slapped or pushed him away when he had kissed her, but she hadn't kissed him back either. Now she hadn't said a single thing to him since then and he was beginning to wonder if this was her answer. Maybe she wasn't into him after all and he had just made a big fool of himself. He stared at the fire and hadn't even noticed that she had moved over to him. He only had time to look up at her before she was sitting in his lap. She said his name so softly it was almost a whisper, but before he could say anything to reply she was kissing him. She was kissing him and he kissed her back kissed her deeper. He had wanted nothing more then to keep kissing her.

It was only a need for air that caused him to stop and break the kiss, but even then he didn't let her go. He kept his forehead against hers catching his breath keeping her against him. "So..you don't want to kill me then." He couldn't help but smile at himself as he pulled her back into another deeper kiss falling back pulling her down on top of him.

Riina was only able to catch her breath for a second as he spoke to her a small light shade of crimson highlighting her porcelain skin as he pulled her into another kiss feeling his body hit the ground as her's sat on top of his. Riina placed her hand to the side of his as they kissed feeling a spark each time there tongue's touched and glided along one another making small shivers vibrate down her body.

Slowly she broke the kiss opening her eyes as the tip of her tongue licked over her lips catching the taste of him one more time. "I...I never said I wanted to." She said as one of her hands ran threw her hair nervously her eyes glancing back at the fire for a instant before returning her light colored eyes to his emerald green eyes. With a sigh she said, "I did not know how to react." Riina said quietly looking down.

Kurai was beginning to get lost in the kiss the taste of her. There tongues met and danced against each other as he continued to kiss her deeper wanting more of her. His hands slid over her sides then back up her body feeling her soft skin under his hands as the slid over each of her curves. He was completely drawn in by the taste of her on his tongue their closeness the feel of her in his arms. So much so that this time it was her that had to break the kiss so that they could catch their breath. He didn't speak he only watched her the way she played with her hair and how she moved looking at the fire. He watched her even as she spoke his eyes trailed to her lips the same lips that had been pressed against his not to long ago. The lips he wanted to feel against his own right now.

He smiled and placed his hand under her chin looking at her as he said" I understand I didn't know what to say myself, you weren't the easiest person to get close too. I just couldn't let you get away from me though." He placed his and against her cheek rubbing it with his thumb. As he looked into her eyes he knew he didn't and woudn't let anything happen to her. He kissed her softly and said" Riina..I want to protect you, you and your people. I'm not the most powerful but my land and forces are growing. I will look after your land if you join with me. I'll protect then aqs if they were my own...I'll protect you Riina just say yes."

Riina stared down at him as Kurai spoke to her and talked about wanting to protect her and her people and she had gone quiet as she thought upon the offer. The choice was her's alone, but doubt was lingering in her mind if Kurai was telling the truth or not. Her farther had warned her many of times growing up to not be played for a fool by the men that she would pass in her life and the fear of being hurt or hurting her family made her cold and distant towards others. Kuria though...made the walls around her weak.

"I dont....."She stopped herself looking at him the fires casting a glow onto his face making her heart flutter inside viscously. Leaning over him Riina placed the palm of her hands a few inches from his face and onto the soft grass. "Yes, I will let you protect me...and my clan." She spoke softly no longer unsure of her answer as she kissed him again.
